Many condemn mishandling of Dr Mejonah by police

Poumai Doctors' Association (PDA) denounced the incident involving Dr Larung Mejonah, a medical officer serving in Manipur Health Services at Moreh hospital, who was subjected to inappropriate and unprofessional treatment by a police team at Konung Mamang, Imphal East district on May 24 evening.
Strongly condemning the incident, the Poumai doctors called upon relevant authorities to take immediate and decisive action against the involved police person nel adding that they must be held accountable under the appropriate legal provisions.
The association also demanded suspension of the involved police personnel to ensure justice and prevent such incidents in future while declaring to stand in solidarity with Dr Larung Mejonah and all medical professionals who selflessly serve the people of Manipur.
Indian Medical Association-South East Manipur (IMA-SEM) branch also condemned the alleged mishandling of Moreh Sub District Hospital MO Dr Larung Mejonah by some police personnel on May 24 evening at Konung Mamang.
IMA-SEM branch also convened an emergency meeting at Jivan hospital, Kakching on Sunday and resolved to urge the government to take decisive action against police personnel involved in the incident.
