Cong MLA files complaint against BJP leaders

A Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) team led by its president MLA Keisham Meghachandra on Wednesday filed a complaint at the City police station, here, against BJP MLAs/ministers and leaders of NDA alliance for alleged threat to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi.
In the complaint, MLA Meghachandra pointed out that during an event on September 11, BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah openly threatened to kill Rahul Gandhi in the same manner his grandmother and then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated while Sanjay Gaikwad, an MLA of Shiv Sena, which is an alliance partner of the BJP in Maharashtra, publicly announced cash reward of Rs 11 lakh to anyone who could cut off Rahul Gandhi's tongue in a function on September 16 .
Furthermore, on September 15, Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu called Rahul Gandhi "terrorist number 1" in the country during an appearance on national media, a statement that was widely circulated across various TV channels and social media.
Moreover, UP BJP leader and minister Raghuraj Singh also referred to Rahul Gandhi as one of the top terrorists in India, MLA Meghachandra elaborated in the complaint.
Speaking to reporters, the Congress opined that the remarks made by these MLAs, ministers and leaders of the NDA alliance pose serious threat to Rahul Gandhi.
Their statements were undemocratic and made with criminal intent meriting condemnations in the strongest term possible, he said, adding that the FIR was lodged to initiate suitable action against the BJP leaders.
The officer in-charge of the City police station registered the complaint and assured necessary actions, he added.
