Imphal, June 25 2024:
Recalling the order issued by joint secretary Education (S) subsequent to demand of DESAM for forming an enquiry committee to probe alleged wrongdoings in Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM), Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has questioned the reason of some staffers of BSEM approaching the court against the enquiry and further demanded the employees' union to make their stand public.
In a release, DESAM secretary (education) Oinam Romesh said that they exerted pressure on authorities concerned to take action against wrongs done by some officials of BSEM.
Considering the demand as legitimate, Education (S) joint secretary on May 20 issued an order for formation of a three-person enquiry committee and enlisted nine distinct points for the probe.
Assuring that DESAM will extend full co-operation to the committee formed for finding out the truth and taking up necessary corrective measures, Romesh expressed hope that the enquiry will be done fairly without any nepotism and corruption.
However, he questioned why some staffers of BSEM have approached the court objecting the enquiry.
Is BSEM under the secretaries who took part in the wrongs done by higher officials of the board or whether they received some part of the benefits, he wondered, and suggested that BSEM employees cooperate and appreciate the government's decision to conduct the investigation.
Failure to extent co-operation to the enquiry committee is akin to neglecting the Education Department and disrespecting the people, Romesh added.
