Floral tributes paid on 'Mangani Leihun' of H Ibotombi

On the occasion of 'Mangani Leihun' of United Committee Manipur (UCM) former advisor and International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) former consultative member Heikrujam Ibotombi Khuman on Saturday, a floral tribute programme was held at the Unity and Peace Park; Kekrupat.
A mass procession carrying the photo of (late) H Ibotombi on a palanquin was taken out from his residence at Haobam Marak Irom Leikai till Kekrupat.
After arriving at the Unity and Peace Park, Kekrupat, floral tributes were paid to his photo by leaders of various CSOs and people from different communities, A Thang-Ta salute was also given during the programme.
Speaking at the event, PANDM president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar called upon the people to follow the path examplified by H Ibotombi during his lifetime for Manipur's integrity and communal harmony between the various communities.
He continued that when people start following his footsteps for unity of the state, then only can the integrity of the state be protected.
Chipping in, United Committee Manipur (UCM) president Y K Diren termed the demise of H Ibotombi popularly known as 'Oja Inao', as a big loss for Manipur.
Stating that his work for development of civil society organisations in the state cannot be forgotten, he prayed for peaceful repose of the departed soul.
Later, the procession after leaving Kekrupat passed through various important roads of Imphal and arrived at his childhood school, Kha Imphal School, where floral tributes were paid to his photo.
The procession then returned back to his residence to complete the 'Mangani Leihun' ritual.
Meanwhile, Wangdel Meetei Leikai Development Committee (WMLDC), Langol Game Village also condoled the demise of H Ibotombi, who played a pivotal role in the establishment of the locality in 1990, ac-cording to a release by its secretary Ksh Somorendro.
The release also prayed for his soul to rest in peace and shared the grief of the bereaved family.
