Imphal, October 22 2024:
Under its Project 'G', Work for Humanity Group (WHG) conducted a blood donation camp at RIMS Blood Transfusion Department, on Tuesday in collaboration with NHM-Manipur.
In a statement, Project 'G' in-charge RK Leishomba informed that donation camp, the fifth it has organised so far, was conducted on the theme "Our Blood Can Save Three Lives".
The camp was organised in response to the growing need for blood due to prevalence of various diseases, as well as recent spurt in accident cases necessitating blood transfusions, it said.
Noting surge in dengue cases in the state, the statement continued that compared to serious cases of the vector borne disease entailing blood transfusions in infected individuals, the state is currently facing shortage of blood.
Urging people to volunteer for donating blood, it said donating blood is an admirable act that can save lives, while helping improve one's health.
Blood donors need to cultivate the habit of donating regularly, rather than limiting themselves to single donation, it stated and informed that similar blood donation camps will be organised in the coming days aimed at mitigating blood shortage.
