Senapati, June 22 2025:
All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing public movement opposing the construction of border fence across Naga homeland and the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) along the Indo-Myanmar border, first announced on February 8, 2024 .
Following a resolution adopted during its presidential council meeting held on June 16, 2025 in Senapati, ANSAM has declared a five-day office picketing across all Naga hill districts from June 23 .
The action is described as a unified expression of dissent against what the Association terms as the "imposed" border fencing and scrapping of the FMR.
In a statement, the Association urged all its constituent units and subordinate bodies to strictly enforce the movement within their respective jurisdictions in defence of the ancestral homeland and integrity of Naga families.
ANSAM further asserted that any untoward incident or escalation arising during the protest would be the sole responsibility of the governments of India and Manipur.
The students' body strongly warned individuals, contractors, transporters, and agencies against facilitating or engaging in any activity related to the transport, supply, storage, or provision of raw materials intended for the border fencing project.
Those found in violation, it stated, would be held accountable and face consequences.
The Association has called for the full cooperation and unwavering support of the Naga populace in ensuring the success of the movement.
