Imphal, June 20 2024:
Senapati District Truck Owners' Association (SDTOA) and Senapati District Truck Drivers' Union (SDTDU) have strongly condemned the incident of burning a truck belonging to Md Rafijuddin by unidentified miscreants between Kangpokpi town and T Khullen on Wednesday night.
The vehicle (NL01AE 7895), was affiliated to the two associations.
In their joint statement, the transporter bodies denounced the action of anti-social elements and called upon the state government and relevant authorities to apprehend the culprits and impose strict punishment.
They further urged the government to compensate the vehicle owner within a week, along with warning that failure to do so could disrupt the free movement of the community responsible for the act.
The associations also highlighted the government's previous unfulfilled promise of compensating for two of their vehicles that were burned in Nagaland and stressed the need for immediate action.
Additionally, they appealed to the warring communities to respect and honour the sale deeds of their vehicles and urged anyone with doubts regarding vehicle sale documents to contact leaders of the association for verification beforetaking any action.
They warned that failure to do so could result in the associations taking strong actions against the responsible community for any further unlawful acts.
