Imphal, January 19 2025: The 23rd Rupmahal Artistes Memorial Drama Festival 2024 25 concluded on Sunday along with a prize distribution function, at Rupmahal Theatre.

Presided over by Theatre's vice president L Brajamohon Songh, the function was attended by Manipur State Kala Akademi (MSKA) secretary Sunanda Thokchom as chief guest and Art and Culture deputy director G Dharmadas Sharma as guest of honour.

In her speech, Sunanda emphasised the need for joint efforts in preserving and promoting various art forms of the state, whether it may be holding seminars, workshops, presenting papers and others.

She noted that Rupmahal Theatre had been playing a significant role in spreading the theatre movement in the state, and lauded the efforts made by the Theatre till date.

She also acknowledged that it has been providing a platform for artistes to showcase their creativity and talent, adding that theatre is a medium adjudicating the society.

She then stressed the need for other cultural groups to follow suit and urged all to extend support and cooperation to the Art & Culture Department in its efforts to preserve the rich art forms of the state.

As part of the closing function, prizes were distributed to artistes and theatre groups, who competed during the festival.
