Thang-Ta, Manipuri dance training underway

Imphal, January 18 2025: A 15-day training programme on Thang-Ta and Manipuri dance has commenced at the premises of Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS), Imphal on Saturday.

The training programme is being organised by KIMACS under the aegis of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM), Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM), and State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

A statement issued in this regard by KIMACS highlighted the contribution of the Society in teaching Thang-Ta and Manipuri folk dances in educational institutions as part of the school curriculum.

The training programme is a continuation of the annual refresher courses of KIMACS, which has been continuing since 2015, to enhance skills for the instructors.

This year, 80 instructors have registered for the course, the statement said.
