Bodies of drowned victims recovered

Imphal, October 16 2024:
The bodies of two persons, who died due drowning, were recovered on Wednesday.
According to a police report, the lifeless body of a woman was recovered from Kanglapat (moat) under Imphal police station on Wednesday around 6 am.
The body was spotted floating in the moat near the Classic Hotel portion by morning joggers.
On receiving information, a team of Imphal police arrived and fished out the body.
Body of the deceased, likely to be around 40 years of age, had been deposited at RIMS Morgue for identification while Imphal PS has registered an unnatural death case.
Meanwhile, the body of a boy, who had gone missing after falling into the Imphal River on October 14, was recovered on Wednesday morning.
Whereabouts of Longjam Kanta (12) s/o Kumar of Kumbi, presently a resident of Kakwa Lamdaibung, remained unknown while swimming with some of his friends in Imphal River near Kongba Irong under Irilbung PS on October 14 .
On Wednesday, his lifeless body was spotted floating near the Lilong Bridge around 9.50 am.
The body was recovered and then kept at JNIMS morgue for post mortem examination.
Irilbung police station has registered a UD case in this regard, a police report informed.
