Two rescued, insurgent activists arrested

Imphal, March 11 2025:
Manipur police on March 8 rescued two minor girls who were about to be recruited to a proscribed organisation.
In a release, Manipur police control room informed that police rescued two minor girls, one from Kakching bazar and the other from Wangbal Laikon area under Thoubal PS on March 8 .
The same day, Manipur police also arrested two active cadres of RPF/PLA from Kakching bazar, namely, Moirangthem Romen Singh alias Phirepa (23) of Moirang Bazar Maning Moirangthem Leikai and Nongmaithem Mohendro Singh (54) of Kakching Thonglan, involved in recruiting the minor girls.
From their possession, one scooter and two mobile phones were seized.
On March 9, the rescued minor girls were produced before the CWC, Thoubal chairperson, for necessary formalities.
Meanwhile, security forces arrested an active member of UPPK identified as Ningombam Bonbon Singh alias Shamu (45) from Wangkhem Ngariyan foothills on Monday.
One .32 pistol with eight rounds were seized from Bonbon, who is charged of involvement in extortion from public, private firms, government officials, etc., and transportation of arms and ammunition, the release added.
Security forces also arrested two cadres of another armed group from Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai, identified as Yambem Gilshan alias Naoba (30) and Philem Jenan Singh (32) .
Four 36 HE grenades without detonator, two mobile phones, Rs 260 and a two-wheeler were recovered from them, the release added.
