Death anniversary of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra commemorated

The 226th death anniversary of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra, observed since October 6 in Ayodhya, Vrindavan, and Radhakund, concluded on Wednesday.
The commemorative event was organised under the joint initiative of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation Manipur and Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy.
The three-day observance featured performances of Nat Sankirtan, Raas Leela and various other programmes at the three locations.
The function was attended by JN Manipur Dance Academy director P Bilash, Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation Manipur president in-charge G Ranjit, vice president M Ashok, general secretary Th Dhanakumar and representatives of State Kala Akademi, New Delhi.
Foundation spokesperson Takhellambam Irabot informed that the death anniversary of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra is being commemorated since 2012 at different locations in Bangladesh, Myanmar, and India, which he had visited during his lifetime.
The observance aims to promote the cultural legacy left by Bhagyachandra among the people of these countries.
Last year, a statue of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra was installed in Tripura.
This year, different forms of dance propagated by Bhagyachandra including Maha Raas, Kunja Raas and Basanta Raas were performed in Ayodhya, Vrindavan and Radhakund.
