Rotary Club of Imphal launches 'Rotary Egg Bank' at two children homes

Imphal, August 09 2026:
Rotary Club of Imphal (RID 3240) launched its continuing community service proj ect 'Rotary Egg Bank' for Rotary Year 2026-27 at two children's homes on Sunday.
The project was launched at Nirvana Children Home for Girls, Ghari Awang Leikai, and Poirei Nawakol Children Home for Girls, Achanbigei.
It aims to promote better nutrition among children residing in care homes.
During 2026-27, the project will benefit 121 children, with each child receiving four eggs every week free of cost.
The eggs are procured from local poultry fanners.
Approximately 1,680 eggs will be given every month to the two homes.
The Rotary Egg Bank has been sustained entirely through voluntary contributions of members since 2021, reflecting the club's commitment to child welfare.
It also supports the livelihood of local poultry farmers by creating regular demand.
The launching programme was attended by Dr N Muhindro Singh, president, Dr LK Sharatchandra Singh, secretary and Sobhana Sorokhaibam, secretary, Nirvana Foundation.
Sadananda Hamom presented songs for the children.
Devkumar Thoudam and M Harekrishna donated Rs 5,000 each to the home.
