Woman held with 127 gm Heroin

Imphal, March 09 2025:
Security forces apprehended a woman along with 127 grams of suspected heroin during frisking and checking operation at Phougakchao Awang Leikai near Ibudhou Thangjing Temple along NH-02 in Bishnupur district on Sunday.
The operation, carried out around 2:30 PM, was led by a team of personnel from Bishnupur CDO, Phougakchao Ikhai police station including women police, and 19 Garhwal Rifles.
During the checking, security forces intercepted a grey diesel auto-rickshaw (MN01L 4189) traveling from Churachandpur towards Kwakta.
One of the passengers, identified as Farida Begum (37) wife of Md Mujibur of Yairipok Tulihal and currently residing at Kwakta Terakhong Ward No 1 (KMC), displayed suspicious behaviour.
She was given the option of undergoing a body search in the presence of a gazetted officer or an executive magistrate, to which she opted for the presence of a gazetted officer.
Subsequently, Dy SP-II D Robinson, who was on convoy duty at Phougakchao Bazar, was informed and arrived at the location.
Upon searching her red handbag, security personnel discovered two soap cases containing suspected heroin powder.
A further body search revealed eight more soap cases hidden in her abdomen area.
The total 10 soap cases were weighed and found to contain approximately 127 grams of the suspected narcotic substance, excluding the weight of the containers.
The drugs are suspected to have been sourced from Churachandpur district.
Following standard procedures, the contraband was seized at 2:50 PM, and Farida Begum was formally arrested at 3:00 PM .
The arrested individual and the seized heroin have been handed over to Phougakchao Ikhai PS for further legal action.
