Meeting on Tata STRIVE skilling initiative held

A meeting to discuss the initiative of Tata STRIVE related to skilling internally displaced persons (IDPs) and general youth was held at the conference hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur on Thursday.
The meeting, chaired by Bishnupur additional deputy commissioner Toijam Opendro, was organised by the district administration in coordination with the Manipur Society for Skill Development (MSSD), under the Department of Skill, Labour, Employment & Entrepreneurship.
The meeting figured detailed discussion on the initiative undertaken by Tata STRIVE, the implementing agency, aimed at enrolling IDP youth aged between 18 to 25 years in various skill development courses.
The initiative seeks to empower the participants with employable skills leading to better livelihood opportunities through placement support.
Representatives from Tata STRIVE, Rajarshi Mukherjee and Chiranjiv Guha, elaborated on the objectives and scope of the initiative.
They informed that the programme is being launched after in-depth consultation with higher authorities of the state, with a focus on assisting IDPs through structured skill development.
The basic educational qualification required for prospective learners is class X pass.
Training will primarily focus on the hospitality sector, covering trades such as food & beverage, front office associate, guest service associate (housekeeping), commis chef, spa treatment, and pastry/ bakery commis.
The representatives also reiterated that securing placement for every learner is a core mission of the agency.
The meeting was attended by sub-divisional officers (SDOs), block development officers (BDOs), district level officers (DLOs), and members of relief camp committees.
Several participants raised questions regarding various aspects and implementation details of the initiative.
