WIY tablets seized at Moreh, one held

Imphal, February 06 2025:
Moreh police, with support of 5 Assam Rifles arrested a man along with 1.5 kg of WY tablets at the Permanent Vehicle Check Post (PVCP) of 5 AR near Moreh town on Thursday.
According to police, an i20 car (DL 3C BQ 2546) coming from Moreh side was halted for entry at the check post of 5 AR at No 1 Gate, Moreh.
Upon suspicion, the vehicle was searched, during which a strong-smelling substance was found in wrapped packets.
Sensing the possibility of drugs, Moreh police representatives were informed by the AR team.
Subsequently, a Moreh police team along with the SDO arrived at the spot and a thorough search of the vehicle was conducted, leading to the recovery of seven packets of suspected WY tablets from the rear side of the vehicle.
The total weight of the seized WY tablets is approximately 1.5 kg.
Along with the suspected contraband, a Redmi Note-9 mobile phone and the i20 car were also seized.
The owner of the vehicle, Zamkholun Baite (40), son of Lhunkhothang of Songdo village, Churachandpur district, was also apprehended.
Following the seizure, an FIR has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
