Pension distributed, political convention held
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, December 05 2021: All Manipur Disabled and Handicapped Persons Development Agency observed the International Day of Disabled Persons with distribution of pensions to 137 differently-abled beneficiaries at Singjamei Chingmakha Kshetri Leikai Nambul Mapal in Imphal West on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking on the occasion, National People's Party (NPP) intending candidate in Singjamei AC Romen Singh urged voters not to trust the deceitful candidates who are only looking out for their self-interests.

If such candidates were to be elected, the future of the state and its people will be bleak.

He also commented on the ongoing scam being carried out by some candidates offering MUDRA loans for vote, stating that all of it is basically a huge trap.

A candidate should contest the election with a sincere heart to serve the people, he pointed out.

Romen then urged for treating differently-abled people normally and providing the same opportunities like the rest of the people.

The observance was also attended by Imphal PS OC N Ihgocha Singh and All Manipur Students' Guardians Organisation secretary S Sumati Devi.

Meanwhile, RK Rameshwar Singh Patsoi Constituency Election Committee organised a people's convention on "Aphaba tunglamchat amagi damak" (For a better future) for the supporters of the intending candidate at Changangei Water Supply ground on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, RK Rameshwar assured that he would work for the people of Patsoi as long the blood flows in his veins.

He then said that the first step of a representative is to work in close co-ordination with his/her people so as to understand the wishes/grievances of the people.

He also urged for putting an end to the trend of begging for votes from house to house.

Stressing the need for^uccessful delivery of the various schemes introduced by the central and state governments for the poor; Rameshwar urged for cultivating new resources which could help in the development of the state, instead of sulking over lack of resources.

He further emphasized the need for creating more job opportunities for unemployed youth through various schemes, while assuring of extending all possible help to youth in honing and developing their respective skills for taking up self-employment opportunities.

Regarding Patsoi AC, he remarked that disappearances of the natural canals are heavily affecting the agricultural activities in the constituency, not to mention of the shortage of water both for consumption and irrigation.

Thus, there is a need to implement scientific agricultural knowledge to resolve the said issues, including upgrading the water supply schemes to provide potable water to the denizens.

Rameshwar then assured of improving the education system in the constituency by reforming the government schools.

He also assured of improving the health care system while informing that health camps would be organised in various places of the constituency, in addition to providing support and financial assistance to talented students and sportspersons, differently-able persons, widows and elderly people.

The convention was also attended by Patsoi Assembly Constituency Election Committee president Prof Wangkhem Nabakumar Singh as president and other renowned individuals as the presidium members.
