"Boong" shortlisted for IFFI-2024

New Delhi, November 04 2024:
"Boong", the debut Manipuri feature film of Lakshmipriya Devi, has been shortlisted as one of the five official selections in the Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film category for the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), organised by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The festival will be in Goa from November 20 to 28 .
The 'Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film' will showcase five remarkable debut films that highlight new perspectives, diverse narratives, and innovative cinematic styles from across India.
Apart from "Boong", the other shortlisted films are "Gharat Ganpati" by Navjyot Bandi-wadekar (Marathi); "Mikka Bannada Hakki (Bird of a Different Feather)" by Manohara K (Kannada); "Razakar (Silent Genocide of Hyderabad)" by Yata Satyanarayana (Telugu); and "Thanupp (The Cold)", by Ragesh Narayanan (Malayalam) .
A jury will evaluate these shortlisted films during the 55th IFFI, and the winner of the Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film Award will be announced at the closing ceremony on November 28 .
The award carries certificate and cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.
The Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film Award category Was newly introduced to highlight the creative vision and unique storytelling approaches of young filmmakers.
This accolade aims to honour the creativity and potential of first-time directors, acknowledging their contribution to the evolution of Indian cinema.
