Meetei Govt staff return to Machi after 2 years

Imphal, August 01 2025: In a major step towards restoring normalcy and administrative operations in Tengnoupal district, government employees belonging to the Meetei community have resumed official duties at the Machi sub-divisional headquarters.

This marks the first official return of staff to the sub-divisional headquarters since the outbreak of the Manipur conflict in May 2023, which had severely disrupted governance and civil administration in the sub-division.

The resumption of duties comes following consistent efforts and coordination led by the Tengnoupal deputy commissioner, district and the sub-divisional officer of Machi.

Their sustained engagement played a pivotal role in facilitating the return of government personnel to the area.

Local communities in Machi sub-division have welcomed the development and expressed heartfelt appreciation to the district administration for its proactive approach.

The move is being viewed as a positive sign of growing stability and administrative inclusiveness in the region.
