GST Day held; state collects Rs 39 crore in June

As a part of nationwide celebration, Central GST Bhawan, Imphal commissionerate celebrated the 5th GST Day at its conference hall at North AOC on Friday.
The celebration programme chaired by CGST joint commissioner L Prabhunanda Singh was attended by DRI Imphal deputy director Y Rajivkumar Singh, CGST Imphal officers and the taxpayers under the Commissionerate.
As part of the event, certificates of recognition were presented to the tax payers by L Prabhunanda and Y Rajivkumar.
L Prabhunanda also launched a programme to be organised quarterly called "GST LAIHANSI" wherein taxpayers can interact and discuss the problems and issues faced by them.
As per a report of Ministry of Finance, Manipur collected a total of Rs 39 crore from GST in the month of June, 2022, higher by 78 per cent compared to the same month in 2021.Gross GST collection for the country recorded Rs 1,44,616 crore in June, 2022 and this is the second highest collection next to April 2022 collection of Rs 1,67,540 crore since inception of the new system of tax collection.
As per the ministry report, Manipur collected only Rs 22 crore GST in June, 2021 but improved the figure this June at Rs 39 crore thereby enhancing the collection to 78 percent.
Manipur also figured among most improved GST collection states and Union Territories (UT) of the country this June compared to June, 2021.Some states and UT with improved GST collection in June, 2022 are Ladakh (118 percent), Kerala (116 percent), Uttarakhand (82 percent) and Manipur (78 percent).
Maharashtra topped among states with highest collection of money at Rs 22,341 crore followed by Gujarat at Rs 9,207 crore, Karnataka (Rs 8,845 crore), Tamil Nadu (Rs 8,027 crore), Uttar Pradesh (Rs 6,834 crore) and Haryana (Rs 6,714 crore).
This is the fifth time the monthly GST collection crossed the Rs 1.40 lakh crore mark since inception of GST and fourth month at a stretch since March 2022.The collection in June, 2022 is not only the second highest but also has broken the trend of low collection month as observed in the past.
Total number of e-way bills generated in the month of May 2022 was Rs 7.3 crore, which is 2 percent less than 7.4 crore e-way bills generated in the month of April, 2022.Out of gross GST revenue collected in the month of June 2022, Rs 25,306 crore is CGST, Rs 32,406 crore is SGST, IGST Rs 75887 crore including Rs 40102 crore collected on import of goods and cess Rs 11,018 crore including Rs 1197 crore collected on import of goods.
The revenues for the month of June 2022 are 56 percent higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year of Rs 92,800 crore.
During the month, revenue from import of goods was 55 percent higher and the revenue from domestic transaction (including import of services) 56 percent higher than the revenue from these sources during the same month last year.
