CM pays tribute to Major Bob Khathing in Tawang

Chief minister N Biren attended the inauguration of the Museum of Valour dedicated to Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing virtually by union defence minister Rajnath Singh in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the function, CM Biren expressed gratitude to Arunachal Pradesh for recognising and acknowledging the sacrifices of Major Bob Khathing, a Tangkhul Naga from Manipur.
He further emphasised that the government of Manipur also acknowledges the sacrifices of the national leader and stated that the state government had already earmarked Rs 3 crore for the construction of a memorial, for which the government has been scouting for a suitable location, either at his birthplace in Mantripukhri or in a more central location.
He further said that the election and the current situation in the state had delayed the project further.
Biren also highlighted Major Bob Khathing's sacrifices, observing that when the Chinese laid claim on Tawang, Major Bob Khathing led his soldiers, hoisted the tricolour, and reclaimed Tawang as an integral part of India.
The CM stated that Major Bob Khathing had not only made sacrifices for the nation but was also a visionary leader.
Union defence minister Rajnath Singh also paid homage to his sacrifices and acknowledged the bravery of Major Bob Khathing in his speech during the function, the CM said adding that the sacrifices of Major Bob Khathing should always be remembered.
CM N Biren also met his Arunachal Pradesh counterpart Perna Khandu and Union minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday.
CM Biren was in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang to attend the inauguration of a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the opening of Major Ralengnao Bob' Kathing Museum by Defence minister Rajnath Singh.
Biren met Khandu and Rijiju at Tawang.
He posted on X, "It is a privilege to celebrate these significant milestones that honour the legacy of our great leaders and commemorate the contributions of Sardar Patel, the Man of Unity, who have shaped our nation".
Biren Singh also thanked the people of Tawang for their warm welcome and hospitality.
In another post, Biren paid tribute to Vallabhai Patel on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
He said, "On this Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, I pay tribute to the visionary leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose dedication united our diverse nation".
