Arms, ammunition recovered from Leimaram

Imphal, August 30 2024:
Bishnupur district police Conducted search operation at Leimaram Makha Leikai under Nambol police station on Friday and recovered arms and ammunition suspected to have been cached by cadres of KCP (PWG) .
According to a police source, the district police received specific information from 4 Assam Rifles of some cadres of KCP (PWG), who fled from Koutruk area some days back, trying to set up new camps in Leimaram and Kamong area.
Based on the input, teams of district police led by DSP (CDO-1) and two OCs of commando unit under the supervision of SP Bishnupur conducted search operation in Leimaram area from 8am on Friday.
During the operation, a huge cache of arms and ammunition suspected to belong to the KCP (PWG) was recovered from a drain near Loyalakpa Laishang of Leimaram Makha Leikai.
The recovered weapons include one SLR with two rounds, one .303 rifle, seven 36HE hand grenades, two tube launchers, one grenade arming ring, one wire less set, one charger and two stun grenades (tear smoke) .
All the recovered arms and ammunition have been subsequently handed over to Nambol PS for further investigation, the source added.
