Meira body urges for returning snatched weapons

Imphal, August 28 2024: Awang Leikinthabi Apunba Meira Paibi has appealed to the group concerned, if any, involved in snatching weapons of VDF personnel from a farm house of an MLA at Awang Leikinthabi on Tuesday evening, to return the weapons considering the job insecurity of victim VDF personnel and plight of their families.

Addressing the media at Awang Leikinthabi on Wednesday, the local Meira Paibi group's leader Ashangbam Angela recounted that some armed men overpowered the VDF personnel stationed at the said farm house around 7 pm on Tuesday and took away some service weapons.

She appealed to the group responsible for snatching the weapons to return the same so that the involved VDF personnel do not face punitive action by the government.

She also said that such incidents having potential to trigger enmity among blood brothers would be akin to aiding the adversary elements.
