Imphal, June 27 2024:
Heingang Joint Committee has requested all concerned to stop digging out chief minister N Biren's past and private matters while discussing the Meetei-Kuki conflict, adding that it is upsetting the people of Heingang.
The Committee further cautioned of strict action in case of failing to heed its appeal.
In a press meet held at Heingang Kangjeibung on Friday, Committee co-convenor Naoroibam Borun Meitei rebuked representatives of organisations, who have been raking up the chief minister's past and private matters during TV discussion programmes to ridicule and reprimand the CM.
The people of Heingang do not care if the discussions are at the political level and both BJP and Congress are scolded.
However, repeated acts of taking up someone's private life, which is not related to politics, for discussion on public platform is unacceptable, he maintained.
The convenor continued that repeatedly projecting Heingang assembly constituency in poor light is upsetting the people of the constituency regardless of whether one is related to the CM or not, or whether one has voted for him or not.
It is a fact that Heingang had elected N Biren as its representative.
However, it has been repeatedly questioned that the people of Heingang have never participated in the on-going people's movements, which is absurd.
If one has any issue with the CM or has queries about the constituency's activities till date, they are welcomed to visit the Committee at any time, he said, assuring to provide^ relevant information.
Borun then informed that the Committee is in full support of COCOMI's "Save Manipur Walk (Manipur Kanba Khongchat)", scheduled for Friday and added that the people of Heingang will participate in the same.
