Imphal, September 25 2024:
While accusing the director of Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Takyel, of wrongdoings, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has submitted an 11-point memorandum to the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, with regard to the Institute.
Addressing a press meet at its Kwakeithel office on Wednesday, DESAM president Mayengbam Somorjit said that IBSD, which is the headquarters of northeast region, is also an important institute for the state.
Unfortunately, its consecutive directors have committed many wrongdoings, which have prevented the Institute from giving its due contribution to the people based on resource work.
Somorjit continued that the current director did not fall behind his predecessors in the level of wrongdoings.
He (director) is absent from the Institute most of the time, while handing over the charge to his crony.
The director instead of procuring equipment of the Institute has been signing MoUs to install equipment in other universities when the same have not yet been installed at the headquarters.
Such actions on the part of the director have further worsened the Institute's conditions, the president claimed.
As such, DESAM on Wednesday submitted an 11-point memorandum to MoS Dr Jitendra Singh, highlighting the many wrongdoings of the director and the state of the Institute.
Additionally, DESAM will be keeping a close eye on the Institute while also ensuring that the bio resources available in the state are utilised for the good of the society, Somorjit informed.
