State joins 15th National Voters' Day celebration

Imphal, January 25 2025:
Manipur joined the 15th National Voters' Day celebration on Saturday organised by the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur with the theme 'Nothing like voting, I vote for sure' at CEO Manipur office at Lamphelpat.
Chief secretary Prashant Kumar Singh (PK Singh) was chief guest at the event while DEO Manipur Pradip Kumar Jha was president and DGP Rajiv Singh was guest of honour.
Addressing gathering at the event, PK Singh said his return to Manipur is like returning to home and expressed happiness over changes brought in the state since the past few years.
He said that the country has 99 crore voters but only around 65 crore of them casted vote.

The numbers of female voters in the country exceeds population of some big countries of the world, he added.
According to PK Singh, results of elections are out on the day of counting of votes in India and every citizen of the country should be proud for this commendable feat as even the developed countries like the United States cannot do like this.
During the time of election, key departments like election, defence and media work together and perform their duties for a common objective and Manipur will be developed if every department work in similar manner, he added.
During the event, DC Imphal West Th Kirankumar, who was returning officer for Inner Manipur parliamentary constituency in the Lok Sabha election held in 2024, and DC Thoubal Ahanthem Subash, who was returning officer of Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency in Lok Sabha election held in 2024, were felicitated for their commendable service.
Both the officers were honoured with gifts and citations at the event.
Later, electoral photo identity cards were distributed to newly enrolled voters who crossed 18 years of age while give voters who crossed 100 years were honoured with shawl, blanket and certificate each.
The 15th National Voters' Day (NVD) was observed across districts on Saturday under the theme 'Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure,' aimed at motivating citizens to actively engage in the electoral process.
The programmes featured administration of NVD pledge; distribution of gifts, EPIC card and Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) materials to newly enrolled voters; awards for outstanding booth level officers (BLOs) and prizes for painting and slogan competitions.
The observance was organised in Imphal West district by Imphal West district election officer (DEO) at the DC Office Complex, Lamphelpat, which was attended by Imphal West additional deputy commissioner (ADC)-I Md Shamim Ahmed Shah, ADC-II, K Jadumani Singh, SDO/ERO Angeline Renita R and other officials.
In Imphal East district, the observance was held at Panchayat Bhavan, Porompat DC Office Complex and was presided by Imphal East DEO and DC Khumanthem.

On the other hand, joining the rest of the country, DEO, Ukhrul organised a programme to mark NVD in Ukhrul district headquarters.
On the occasion, Ukhrul DEO/ DC Kengoo Zuringla educated the gathering, especially the young students, on the importance of election and registering for EPIC/voter card.
As part of the observance, EPIC cards were distributed to six young voters who have just attained the eligible age while awards were presented to three best BLOs AS Upperson, Thothor Muinao and Wungramchan Shaiza.
Meanwhile, the observance was organised by DEO, Kakching at the community hall, DC Kakching Office Complex.
The event was attended by Kakching DC & DEO Rohit Anand as chief guest, and SVEEP nodal officer & district social welfare officer Nikita Thangjam as president, During the programme, the DEO presented gifts to BLOs Yumnam Gangamani Singh, Kshetrimayum Sharat, Thingbaijam Jotin and Oinam Alena Devi as a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
It may be mentioned that 36-Wabagai ERO Kherdananda Potshangbam was awarded the Best Electoral Registration Officer Award by the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur.
On the other hand, Kha Manipur College Kakching Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Eco Club, Environmental Science Unit, NCC and NSS Unit I & II jointly observed NVD at college's multipurpose hall on Saturday: Similarly, United College, Lambung, Chandel Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with DEO, Chandel observed the day at college's Science Seminar Hall on Friday and Saturday with ADC, Chandel CEO/Chandel additional deputy commissioner Md Firoz Khan, United College principal Dr Bd Thumdal and Chandel divisional forest officer Naorem Munal Meitei attending as chief guest, president and guest of honour, respectively, on the closing day.
The observance was also held by South East Manipur College, Komlathabi's Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at the college premises and was attended by college principal Dr L Khiloni, vice-principal L Solomon Dangsawa, IQAC coordinator Dr Miranda Bembem, teaching, non-teaching staffers and students.
In Thoubal district, the observance was held at DC Thoubal conference hall and was presided by Thoubal ADM B Lokeshwor Sharma.
The Day was also observed at the conference hall, DC s Office, Mini Secretariat, Tuibong, Churachandpur with Churachandpur additional DEQ/ADC Seiminthang Lenthang congratulating the 26 first time voters and the 12 BLOs at the event.
District administration, Pherzawl observed NVD at Pherzawl community hall with Pherzawl DC Asish Das as the chief guest.
In Bishnupur district, the observance was held at Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur and was chaired by Bishnupur DC Lourembam Bikram.
NVD was observed at Jiribam district at DC Office Complex, Jiribam with Jiribam DEO/DC Krishna Kumar as chief guest.
It may also be noted that 40 Jiribam ERO Laishram Roshan Singh was awarded the Best Electoral Registration Officer by CEO, Manipur.
Meanwhile, Oriental College (Autonomous), Imphal's Electoral Literacy Club, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
