Sundays on Cycle will help promote fitness: YAS director

Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS) director Ksh Umananda said that the 'Sundays on Cycle' campaign initiated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will help promote healthy lifestyle and fitness among the people.
He was attending a 'Sundays on Cycle' programme as part of Fit India Movement at the office premises of Sports Authority of India (SAI), Imphal at Khuman Lampak on Sunday.
SAI NERC Imphal, Fit India organised the event in collaboration with All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU), National Sports University (NSU), and Manipur Adventure & Mountain Biking Association (MAMBA) .

Speaking on the occasion, Umananda hailed the Sundays on Cycle as a campaign that encourages people to cycle On Sundays for better health and environmental sustainability.
He highlighted the potential of the campaign in promoting healthy lifestyles and fitness among the people, and urged the people, especially the youth to develop habit of cycling.
AMWJU president Bijoy Kakchingtabam highlighted that sedentary lifestyle in the contemporary society amid the hectic schedules is becoming a health concern for most of the people.
The introduction of such a campaign is a good initiative to promote healthy lifestyle among the people, he said and added that the participation of journalists will indeed help in disseminating the information to the masses.
He urged the public to take cycling as a form of exercise whenever one has some time to spare.
MAMBA resident Ng Arun-kumar, brand ambassador of International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM), Kolkata, Laishram Sarita, and Khelo India SAI NERC Imphal assistant director L Shyamrita also attended the event.
Later, a cycle rally was flagged off by the dignitaries from the SAI Complex.
The rally passed through North AOC, Chingmeirong, Sangakpham, Mantripukhri, took a U-turn and culminated at the starting point via the Dingku road.
