Social activist Dr Roel Moyon passes away

Reverend Dr W Roel Moyon, a prominent social activist from Kapaam village in Chandel district, passed away due to deteriorating health conditions at Chandel District Hospital at 4 AM on Thursday.
He was laid to rest on Friday morning at his native village following a memorial service held at Kapaam/Komlathabi Baptist Church.
Dr Roel Moyon was a well-respected figure who actively contributed to the works of the Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI) and held several key positions during his lifetime.
He served as chairman of the Manipur state-level committee of the Church Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA), (pMreBsCid)ent of the Manipur Baptist Convention, Imphal, and founding president of the Chandel Christian Forum.
He was the first ordained minister among the Moyon Naga Baptist community and served as pastor of the Kapaam Baptist Church.
He was also the founding secretary of South East Manipur College, Komlathabi, and the first executive secretary of the Moyon Naga Baptist Church.
He was conferred the Chandel District Peace Award on Republic Day 1993 and the Award for Naga-Kuki Conflict Compromise on Republic Day 2013.He also received several citations in recognition of his exemplary leadership and contributions to society.
