Chandel, August 19 2026:
Assam Rifles organised a Health Education and Awareness Camp at Don Bosco School, Lamphau Pasna, Chandel district, on Wednesday to mark World Humanitarian Day.
According to a release issued by IGAR (South), the initiative formed part of the Force's ongoing community outreach to enhance health awareness, emergency preparedness and basic life-saving skills among students.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 120 students, designed to equip them with practical skills for medical emergencies and unforeseen situations.
The first-aid session familiarised students with essential measures to assist injured or ill persons before professional medical help arrives.
The students were also sensitised on snakebite management, including immediate safety measures, safe transportation of victims, avoiding unscientific remedies and the importance of seeking timely medical treatment.
The programme concluded with a practical demonstration of CPR, during which students were trained to recognise an unresponsive casualty and initiate basic life-support measures.
The interactive sessions encouraged active participation and helped build confidence among the students, while highlighting the importance of preparedness and responsible action in safeguarding lives and promoting community well-being.
