Tributes paid to AR trooper Alok Rao

The 18 and 28 Assam Rifles jointly organised Saheed Divas to commemorate the sacrifice of 18 AR rifleman and Shaurya Chakra awardee, Alok Rao, who succumbed to injuries suffered in a gunfight with armed militants at Dolaithabi on May 10 last year.
Alok Rao breathed his last on May 17 during the formative days of the current crisis that began from May 3 last year.
Floral tributes were offered to the fallen soldier during the solemn ceremony.
Colonel Oinam Akash, the commandant of 18 Assam Rifles, and Colonel Deval Dikshit, the commandant of 28 Assam Rifles, along with members of local clubs and Meira Paibi groups, paid homage to the soldier.
They observed a two-minute silence in honour of Alok Rao's sacrifice and laid floral wreaths at his memorial.
Colonel Oinam Akash lauded rifleman Alok Rao for his exemplary courage displayed during the confrontation with the enemy.
He emphasised the need to remember the unbiased duty carried out by the soldier and his ultimate sacrifice.
Colonel Akash highlighted the crucial role of the Assam Rifles in maintaining law and order in the area and encouraged the rank and file to continue their duties with sincerity and dedication.
Colonel Deval Dikshit reiterated the commitment of Assam Rifles in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere in the region.
He assured further efforts towards this goal and acknowledged rifleman Alok Rao's posthumous conferment of the Shaurya Chakra for his exceptional bravery in the face of adversity.
