Manipur's community and literary circles gathered in solemn tribute as two prominent organisations held separate condolence meetings to honor the legacies of Dr N Heramani and renowned educationist Dr Ch Yamini Devi, who passed away earlier this week.
The Social Workers' Congress (SWC), Khongman, convened at its office today to remember Dr Heramani.
who died on April 16 at age 71 .
Born on September 24, 1954, he hailed from one of the three original donor families that provided land for the SWC Khongman complex.
A respected psychiatrist, Dr Heramani served as Head of the Department at RIMS and Shija Hospitals & Research Institute.
Members observed a one-minute silence, with publicity secretary Sh Ajit Singh highlighting his lifelong generosity and active involvement in the organisation's activities.
In a parallel event, the Writers' Forum.
Imphal, met at its Nagamapal Lamabam Leikai office on April 17, presided over by president Keisham Priyokumar, to pay respects to Dr Yamini Devi, its former president, who passed away on April 15 at age 89 .
Born on December 15, 1936, in Keishamthong Top Leirak, she shattered barriers as Manipur's first female Chairperson of the State Commission for Women.
A two-minute silence followed, with secretary M Notilal issuing condolences on behalf of the Forum, calling her demise an irreparable loss to Manipur's literary and academic worlds.
Both organisations extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families, offering prayers for the eternal peace of the departed souls.
