Imphal, October 16 2026:
As part of Military Civic Action under Operation Sadbhavana, the Red Shield Division of the Indian Army provided a 10,000-litre water storage facility to a village in Leimakhong on October 16, benefiting around 35 families.
The village had no adequate storage and depended on continuous water flow.
During the dry season, reduced flow led to shortages forcing residents to walk long distances to fetch water.
Recognising the need, the Army strengthened existing water infrastructure to enable storage for lean periods.
The initiative will ensure reliable water availability, reduce hardship and improve access to the essential resource.
Officials said the project reflects Army's commitment to need-based civic action, community welfare and strengthening trust and goodwill with local communities.
