World Food, Students' Day commemorated

Directorate of Agriculture organised World Food Day' observance function at the Farmers' Training Hall of the directorate, near Sanjenthong on Wednesday.
The programme was attended by Agriculture director N Gojendro, chief finance officer Dr Ksh Imokanta, and joint director TS Gladney Monsang along with senior officials, staff and farmers.
In his address, director Gojen-dro commended appreciated the tireless efforts of the farmers and department staffers in increasing yield of agricultural products.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles organised a series of educational ahd cultural events across Chandel and Tengnoupal districts on Tuesday to commemorate World Students' Day.
According to PRO IGAR (S), in Chandel district, observance programmes were held Aibol Joupi, New Samtal, Wayang, Tuitong and Sehlon villages along with motivational lectures that provided students with guidance on career opportunities and personal growth, and conduct of drawing and painting competition.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, students performed cultural dances, and a volleyball tournament brought out their sportsmanship and enthusiasm, according to PRO IGAR (S).
In Imphal West, Assam Rifles commemorate the Day at the Vocational Guide School, San-gaithel with over 400 students participating the programme.
Activities included motivational movie screening, lecture on career opportunities in Armed Forces, distribution of sports equipment to promote fitness and a session on drug abuse prevention, elaborated the PRO.
Simultaneously, in Tengnoupal district, Assam Rifles honoured the legacy of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, former President and DRDO Scientist, with a special lecture on the "Importance of Education in Life" at Dr Colvin Academy School, Moreh.
A total of 80 students and villagers, including those from nearby Haolenphai village attended the event, which emphasised the transformative power of education in national development.
On the other-hand, Assam Rifles organised a security meeting at Shakpao in Ukhrul district on Wednesday with the aim to assess local perceptions of the security situation and address residents' concerns about village safety.
During the programme, Assam Rifles briefed village authorities on the current security situation and also assured the residents of their safety, emphasising their vigilant presence, said the PRO in another release.
