Bir Tikendrajit's bust planned for Tripura; gate for Guwahati Manipur Basti: UPF

United People's Front (UPF) president N Rupachandra has announced plans for installation of a bust of Bir Tikendrajit at Berimura in Tripura, along with construction of a gate for Guwahati Manipur Basti.
In a press meet held at Manipur Press Club here on Saturday, Rupachandra informed that he attended the observance of Martyrs' Day at Berimura in Tripura on August 13 .
He continued that UPF advisor Kh Ratan had already laid the foundation for installing a bust at Berimura, which is predominantly resided by Meitei/Meetei.
He continued that the installation of the bust will be completed by December this year and handed over to the people.
The bust, which will be the first of its kind in Tripura, would be installed in joint collaboration with Tripura-Based Tripura Manipuri Student Youth Coordination Committee.
On the other hand, with the objective of popularising the Manipur Basti in Guwahati, UPF has discussed with four organisations in Guwahati Manipur Basti, namely Rajbari Atheletic Club, Manipuri Basti Meira Paibi Women Association, Manipuri Jaganat Bari Seva Samiti and Shri Shri Radha Krishna Seva Samiti to construct a huge gate at the Basti, on August 7 .
The main responsibility for constructing the gate would be taken by UPF auditor general Asem Bimol and the four organisations.
Recounting that a bust of Gambhri Singh was installed at Chandrapur in 2024, Rupachandra sought support from the people with regard to the upcoming two projects.
