Book released, environment body floated

"Inspirations from Scientists of Manipur", a book edited by Manipur University Department of Physics professor N Nimai was released in a function organised by Research Institute of Science and Technology (RIST), Imphal at the Court Hall of the University on Friday.
The book release function was attended by Manipur University vice chancellor Prof N Lokendra as chief guest and Dhanamanjuri University ex-vice chancellor Prof N Rajmuhon as president while RSAPS, Royal Global University (Guwahati) Department of Mathematics professor emeritus L Ladu Singh, and MU School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences dean Prof Sumitra Phanjoubam were guests of honour.
On the other-hand, a new organisation christened Environment Protection Unit (EPU) has been formed with the objective of conserving and preserving the environment of the state.
Announcing this during press meet at Manipur Press Club, here, on Friday, convenor Mayengbam Joy said that EPU was formed on July 2 to save the environment and take up related activities.
While seeking support of the people in its endeavour, Joy pointed out that the impact of degrading environment has led to numerous disasters over the years.
As such, environment enthusiasts joined hands to form EPU, prior to which they also conducted a study and discussed about condition of Waishel Maril.
He then sought support from the local clubs, organisations and others in this regard, while informing that projects related to monitoring the same will be taken up including conducting a line survey of Waishel Maril on July 16 .
