MU launches e-Office to boost digital governance

Imphal, May 12 2025:
Manipur University (MU) marked a milestone in digital governance with the launch of its e-Office system on Monday.
The system went live as the first official file was transmitted through the e-Office portal from the office of the registrar to that of the vice-chancellor, ushering in a new era of efficient and accountable administration.
According to a statement from the university, the implementation of the e-Office is aimed at transforming the university's administrative processes by providing digital workplace solutions that enhance speed, transparency, and cost-effectiveness.
The launch event was attended by MU vice-chancellor Prof N Lokendra Singh, registrar (in-charge) Prof Th Binoy Singh, and members of the e-Office Implementation Committee which includes head of Computer Science department Dr Khumukcham Robindro Singh as chairman, MU system manager Wangjam Devendro Singh as convenor, and Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT), Computer Science Department head Dr Th Ibungomacha Singh as co-chairman.
Other members include Dr Th Tangkeshwar Singh, Dr Rajeev Rajkumar, information scientist Ahongsangbam Dorendro, and programmer Irengbam Tilokchan Singh.
Prof N Lokendra described the initiative as a vital part of the government 's 100-day agenda focused on digital governance, stating that e-Office will bring significant changes in administrative efficiency and accountability.
While Prof Th Binoy highlighted its potentials to reduce costs, speed up file movement, and increase transparency, Wangjam Devendro explained that the system ensures secure access for senior officials through a user authentication process.
Dr Khumukcham Robindro noted that the e-Office Will foster an 'eco-friendly and paperless' work culture, safeguard data Security, and 'streamline workflow.
To support the transition, the university has conducted multiple user training and awareness programmes for deans, heads of departments, administrative officers, and non-teaching sfaff to ensure effective use of the e-Office platform.
