Gaan-Ngai celebrations held at Chinikon, Ishok Chingphu

Bishnupur, January 12 2025:
Gaan Ngai was celebrated with traditional songs and dances at Chinikon village in Kangpokpi district and Ishok Chingphu in Bishnupur district on Sunday.
The programme organised by State Level Gaan Ngai Celebration Committee at Chinikon was attended by works minister Govindas Konthoujam as chief guest and Mangoljao Kamei as president, while Moirang MLA Thongam Shanti and Kumbi MLA S Prem-chandra were guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Govindas appealed to all concerned to work for restoring communal harmony taking into account hardships faced by the people ever since the violence broke out on May 3, 2023 .
Stressing on strengthening the age-old fraternal bond for upholding Manipur's territorial boundary bestowed by the forefathers, Govindas also wished that this year's Gaan Ngai ushers in harmony and brotherhood in the state.
On the other hand, MLA Shanti announced that a memorial statue of Kabui Salang Maiba will be installed in an area within Moirang assembly constituency during his term.
Meanwhile, the Gaan Ngai celebration at Ishok Chingphu was held with education minister Th Basantakumar Singh as chief guest and Kabui Union president Heera Kabui as the functional president while Manipur Tourism director W Ibohal, Ishok Chingphu Kabui chief Thaimei Mariishana, Federation of Haomee president Sapamcha Jadumani, UCM president YK Dhiren and AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang were the guests of honour.
