Imphal, February 06 2025:
Maha Area Chiefs' Association (MACA), Chandel has demanded immediate transfer of Chandel range forest officer (RFO) K Pawankumar Sharma from Chandel.
Alleging that the RFO hardly attends office, a MACA release issued by chairman JS Angam Anal claimed that in a time spanning more than a year, the RFO turned up for work for barely 10/15 days but without a single night halt.
MACA maintained that protracted absence of the officer posted in Chandel district, which is the only 'Aspirational District' in the state, has caused serious inconveniences to the poor people of the district.
The Association further stated that the ongoing crisis in the state is also affecting the peace-loving people of Chandel with absence of the RFO, citing varied reasons including leave has only compounded hardships of the marginalised section of the Chandel denizens, whose livelihood mainly depends on the forest-centric activities.
"We, therefore, demand transfer of Chandel RFO K Pawankumar Sharma from Chandel immediately and giving the people of Chandel a sincere officer who can cordially work with the poor people of Chandel in days to come in public interest," it said.
MACA clarified that it has no cpmmunal bias for demanding transfer of the RFO but compelled in the public interest.
