AR conducts tree plantation drives

Assam Rifles organised tree plantation drives across multiple districts in the state to observe World Environment Day on Wednesday.
These activities were part of the Assam Rifles' ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, community engagement, and nurturing a culture of ecological responsibility, said a press release of PRO IGAR (S) .
The plantation drives were carried out in Mantripukhri, Keithelmanbi, Irengbam, L Koireng, Nambol and Waroiching in Imphal; Shangshak, Aishi, Kamtong, and Kangpat Khullen in Kamjong district; Kangvai and 10 surrounding villages in Churachandpur district; Sajik Tampak and Lambung in Chandel district; and in Modi, Chandel district.
Collectively, over 5000 saplings were planted in these regions.
The plantation drives saw participation of over 150 Garrison residents in Mantripukhri, 65 school children in Kamjong district, 150 villagers in Sajik Tampak, 120 locals in Lambung, and 135 participants in Modi.
Activities included tree planting, cleanliness drives, and educational events such as drawing and painting competitions focused on environmental themes, according to the release.
