Significant changes in Keirao AC soon: Rameshwar

Keirao MLA L Rameshwar has said that some significant developmental changes will be seen in Keirao assembly constituency in a couple of years.
He made the statement while inspecting a road project connecting Keirao and Langdum in Imphal East district on Saturday.
Interacting with the media, the MLA said that machines are being used for blacktopping of the road, which has been ignored for long.
Blacktopping of roads in Thiyam, Kyamgei and Keirao Muslim areas will begin within the current month.
All roads in Keirao AC will be blacktopped by next year as several road projects funded through NEC, PMGSY, CRF and PWD are in the pipeline.
Several key roads will be developed as RCC, brick pavement or pebble block pavements, he said.
He further said that a park being developed at Khann-arok at a cost of Rs 5 crore will have swimming poll, turf ground for football, merry go round for children and cafeteria.
Construction also has begun for a rest house at Kyamgei adjacent to Lilong Bridge at a cost of Rs 6.5 crore.
An agro model market will be constructed adjacent to the rest house at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore under NEC funding.
Construction of Keirao Khunou block office and Homeopathy College are also nearing completion, he said and further informed that process is underway for setting up a higher secondary school in Urup area, which will be the first higher secondary school of the constituency.
In terms of agriculture and allied sector, a large scale pea farming project is being taken up at Chanam Sandrok while preparations are on for poultry project under which assistance will be provided to educated unemployed youth, he said.
The MLA also reminded all concerned that a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh is being provided every month to one women's Self Help Group out of 170 SHGs through draw of lots with the assistance extended from the MLA local area development fund.
While conceding that socio-economic condition of the state is in bad shape, the MLA said that participation in almost every festival is one of the prime reasons for the sluggish economy.
Meetei community is known for their love of festivities and they participate in al most every festival of every community, he said while emphasising on the need for reducing participation in festivities.
The tradition of Na-kathengba during Yaoshang festival also affects the society and its economy and he does not want to encourage such culture, Rameshwar said.
Maintaining that other religions have funding from different institutions from different parts of the country as well as the world, he said that Meetei community has no such funding support.
The state government is allocating separate budget for promoting Shirui Lily, Sangai and Amur Falcon.
Meetei community is more endangered than these species and the community should understand such situation and work towards developing their status, he said.
