May 3 observance marked with floral tributes in districts

BISHNUPUR: Arambai Tenggol Bishnupur district on Saturday observed the May 3 memorial marking the second year of the ongoing conflict at Kha Potshangbam Ground by paying floral tributes to martyrs and resolving to oppose any attempt to disintegrate Manipur.
The programme was attended by all AT units of the district, PWD ex-chief engineer Y Joykumar, Bishnupur Ward No 5 Meira Paibi Lup secretary Wahengbam Amina Leima, Nachou ZP ex-member Thiyam Dilip, and social worker Nutan Ningombam.
Bishnupur MLA Govindas Konthoujam led the public in offering floral tributes to the photos of martyrs and observing one-minute silence to pay their respect.
In view of the observance, security was tightened in the district with state forces, central paramilitary forces, CRPF and RAF personnel deployed from Friday midnight onwards at Torbung, Phougakchao Ikhai, and Saiton - areas where the clashes first erupted.
Similarly, internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Churachandpur organised the May 3 Observance under the theme "Let us come together to remember, reflect, and stand in solidarity with our displaced brothers and sisters" at Kiyamba Ningshing Shanglen.
During the observance organised by the Churachandpur Meitei United Committee, the IDPs who lost their properties and fled Churachandpur after the conflict broke out remembered the day and paid floral tributes to the photos of victims who lost their lives in the ongoing crisis, observing two-minute silence in their memory.
KAKCHING: AT units of Kakching organised the May 3 Observance at Thongjao Public Ground, Thongjao Awang Leikai, by paying floral tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect Manipur's integrity.
The observance was attended by school students, clubs, CSOs, Meira Paibi groups, and AT members.
Similar observance was also organised by Thoubal Amashung Kakching District Apunba Lup (TAKDAL) at Khongjom gi Kheba Chingkhong by paying floral tributes and observing two-minute silence to honour the martyrs.
Meanwhile, Lamjao, Langmeidong, Laimanai, and Tejpur United Clubs' Organisation (LATUCO), under the aegis of Kakching District United Clubs' Organisation (KADUCO), organised the day at Lamjao Mayai Leikai Panthoibi Shanglen, paying floral tributes to the photos of martyrs along with a public discourse under the theme " Hanggatna Yenglubada" .
The function was attended by Kakching District United Clubs' Organisation president Thingnam Chaoba as chief guest and LATUCO president M Modhuchandra as president, while Khunnai Kanba Meira Paibee Apunba Lup (KHUKAMPAL) Kakching district president S Chaobi Devi and Lamjao Apunba Meira Paibee Lup president Yumnam Ibeni Leima were guests of honour.
Senior journalist Hemantak'umar Ningombam and social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram spoke as resource persons during the public discourse.
On the other hand, a candlelight vigil to pay respect to martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect Manipur from Kuki narco-terrorists Was jointly organised by Nongpok Sayang Apunba Lup (NSAL), a joint body of 18 clubs from Chandrakhong Phanjakhong to Thoubal Kshetrileikai, and All Yairipok United Club Organisations (AYUCO) at Yairipok Keithel Traffic Island.
Meira Paibi activists and members of club organisations of Yairipok and AT Unit-2, Yairipok also participated in the event.
IMPHAL: The May 3 Observance was also organised by the Committee on Protection Meitei Victims, Moreh under the theme "Observance for United Manipur: Free Movement and Resettlement is Our Constitutional Right" at Ideal Girls College Relief Camp, Akampat.
During the observance, six resolutions were passed, urging the government to allow free movement from Imphal to Moreh, rehabilitate IDPs from Moreh back to their houses, provide ad equate compensation for loss of properties, secure their properties at Moreh, deploy an IRB battalion at Moreh, and remove the Assam Rifles, as the displaced people have lost trust in the central force.
Moreh Town Committee ex-commissioner Loitongbam Imobi and Committee on Protection Meitei Victims, Moreh chairman Leishangthem Inaocha were the main speakers at the observance.
Marking two years of ongoing turmoil in the state, Peace & Protection Committee, Chakpa Phayeng also observed the day at Martyrs Memorial, Phayeng Konsang by paying floral tributes to martyrs of Phayeng, Koutruk and Kadangband.
The observance was attended by committee president Angom Jiten and Phayeng GP chairperson Angom Gojendro along with villagers.
