Imphal, June 02 2024:
A team of Moreh Police Station led by its officer in-charge (OC) Md Salauddin inspected the Meetei houses in Moreh, which the Kuki narco-terrorists could not torch during the conflict that broke out on May 3 last year.
The police team carried out the inspection on Sunday after receiving reports of suspected drug abusers from Myanmar burglarising the abandoned houses.
So far, state force special commando, commando, IRB and MR personnel are discharging their duty in Moreh town to maintain law and order.
In this regard, Meetei Council Moreh president Mayanglambam Thoiba Meitei drew the attention of the state government, urging for deployment of more IRB units in the border town in addition to the state forces.
In case additional IRB personnel and other state forces are deployed in Moreh, Lokchao, Pallel, Tengnoupal police station, Saivom village and Molnoi village near Pallel along with conduct of regular road opening patrol then such measures would ensure secure movement along the route, he remarked.
Thoiba further urged the government to ensure resettlement of the displaced people from Moreh, back to the border town.
