15 hectares of paddy field inundated in Khajingkhombi: Kumbi EO

District Agriculture Office, Bishnupur, Kumbi EO Kumam Shwami has revealed that around 15 hectares of pre-Khariff 'Angananphou' (paddy) grown in Khajingkhombi Loukol, Wangoo under Kumbi assembly constituency have been inundated by recent flood water.
It may be mentioned here that Kumbi MLA S Premchandra had provided all the requirements to farmers for farming pre-Kharif season 'Angananphou' in 200 hectares of farmland in Khajingkhombi Loukol with the aim of ensuring self-sufficiency in food production.
A team of District Agriculture Office, Bishnupur, Kumbi EO Kumam Shwami along with the MLA's Agriculture Cell's representative Malemnganba and local farmers visited the inundated fields for inspection on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons, K Shwami stated that a report regarding the damage caused to crops will be sent very soon to the higher officials of the Department.
On the other hand, one of the farmers, H Tiken lamented that he is very disheartened by the crop loss due to the inundation after investing so much time and money.
He also appealed to the department concerned to provide compensation for the crop damage.
Later, the team visited the agricultural fields affected by flood in Pombikhok for assessment.
