Senapati, October 31 2024: A team of Naga Lawyers' Association, Manipur headed by president Advocate Mark Khapai submitted a memorandum to Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya to set aside the October 14 recommendation of the Hill Area Committee.

Raising serious concerns about the recommendation, the memorandum questioned "the legal grounds or provisions on which the HAC based its recommendation to appoint the entire ADC of the Hill Areas through nomination, bypassing the standard democratic process as enshrined clearly under Section 4 (2) of the Manipur (Hill Areas) District Council Act, 1971 which, it directs election on the sole basis of adult suffrage" .

The Association also called for the Governor's intervention to expedite the ADC Elections at the earliest.
