Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and Wangkhem MLA K Meghachandra has stated that the party's MLAs are all set to force discussion on prevailing issues and hold the ruling party accountable for its failure to address suffering of the masses in the budget session slated from July 31 till August 12 .
Speaking to The People's Chronicle on Monday with regard to role of the opposition in the ensuing assembly session which will have nine sittings, Meghachandra said that Congress MLAs will take up the non-resolution of the conflict and its impact on the people till date, during the sixth session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
He informed that meeting of CLP had been held twice to discuss issues for presentation and discussion during the session.
Meghachandra continued that as the budget session is the backbone of a government of a state, the business of the session should be held for 20 days.
While the conflict remains unresolved and thousands of people are unable to return to their homes, the government has not made it clear what steps it has taken up to solve the same.
The Congress party has already taken up the issue in the parliament, he said, and added that the party MLAs are ready to do the same during the calling attention and question hour in the upcoming session, apart from attending the Governor's Motion of Thanks.
