Anti-drug awareness programmes held

Imphal, June 28 2026:
As part of its ongoing campaign against drugs and alcohol, the Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) organised two awareness programmes to highlight the harmful effects of substance abuse and the public's role in curbing it.
On June 27, a programme was held at Tingri Mayai Leikai, Imphal West, jointly with Tingri Youth Development Association.
CADA vice president Ningthoujam Doren, as resource person, said Meira Paibis have weakened and must be revived to check substance abuse among youth.
He urged parents not to use intoxicants before children and called for collective action, noting that politics has hindered antidrug efforts.
On June 28, another session was held at Athokpam Awang Leikai, Thoubal district.
CADA secretary general Takhellambam Geetchandra Meitei was the resource person.
