As in other parts of the country, the Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra was celebrated yesterday with great enthusiasm at Group Centre, Langjing, CRPF Campus, Imphal, drawing a large gathering of CRPF personnel and their families.
Many devotees actively participated in the pulling of the grand chariot by holding the long ceremonial ropes, as part of the sacred tradition.
As per a release issued by CRPF, the celebration commenced with grandeur and deep spiritual fervor.
Thousands of devotees pulled the ornately decorated chariot carrying the revered idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra through the campus lanes.
To mark the auspicious beginning of the festival, IGP CRPF, IPS, visited the Laxmi Narayan Temple within the campus and offered prayers for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of the Force.
He also conveyed his greetings to the family members present.
In accordance with traditional Vaishnavite customs, CRPF family quarters along the chariot procession route made offerings of seasonal fruits and sweets to the passing deities.
The festival celebrations extended beyond the day's procession.
Each evening, during the nine-day event, devotional sankirtana sessions will be held, adding a unique spiritual dimension.
The celebrations will culminate on July 5 with the Bahuda Yatra, marking the return journey of the three deities to their temple.
