AITUC hails RNCM for lifting NH 37 blockade

All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Manipur State Council (MSC) has hailed Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) for their role in lifting of blockade on NH 37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) .
In a release, AITUC MSC secretary Kh Samungou recounted that the flare up of violence in Jiribam district on June 6 hindered movement of transport vehicles including goods trucks, fuel and LPG carriers, etc., on NH 37 .
On June 17, some of the.
transport vehicles were coming towards Imphal led by CRPF convoy but all had to make a U-turn as Kuki women backed by Kuki militants blocked the highway near Phaitol village, it claimed.
AITUC MSC continued that in view of suffering faced by all communities in the state due to the blockade on NH 37, RNCM took up the initiative and held talks with Kuki Inpi, Kuki Women Association and other CSOs of Tamenglong, Noney and Jiribam and reached an understanding which led to safe arrival of the stranded transport vehicles to Imphal on June 21.The union reiterated its appreciation to RNCM for their good intent in freeing the traffic movement on NH 37 .
