Imphal, February 25 2025:
Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) and Unique Business Association, Chandel (UBAC) have issued separate statements in support of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Chandel, Dr N Munal Meitei, while refuting the allegations levelled against him.
CNPO condemned the scurrilous allegations made against the DFO by a business association in Chandel, terming them entirely unfounded, fallacious, and devoid of merit.
Following a rigorous and meticulous inquiry, no evidence of malfeasance or wrongdoing by the DFO was found, CNPO stated.
The organisation asserted that the accusations appeared to be driven by ulterior motives and personal vested interests rather than genuine grievances.
CNPO commended the DFO's unrelenting enthusiasm, openness, and sincerity in serving the public and urged the public to remain impartial.
The organisation assured that it would continue to oversee the situation, ensuring the DFO's office remains receptive, transparent, and answerable to the public.
In a parallel development, the UBAC also clarified its stance on the matter.
Referring to a press note published by some media houses, the association clarified that it has always worked in full cooperation with Dr Munal.
It dismissed the press note demanding the DFO's removal as fake and aimed at tarnishing the image of a good officer.
UBAC further opposed transfer of the DFO and warned that it would launch democratic protests, including bandhs, if such a transfer were to take place.
Both organisations pledged support for fostering integrity, transparency, and good governance in Chandel.
