Governor, CM, others extend R-Day greetings

Imphal, January 25 2025:
Manipur Governor, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, chief minister N Biren Singh and others extended greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Republic Day, 2025 .
In a message, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla said that: "it was on this day in 1950, we gave ourselves a constitution which enshrines the guiding principles of our county," adding that the experiment of democracy in India has been remarkably successful as we go from strength to strength, among the League of Nations.
"On this occasion we revere and offer our homage to the founding fathers for their foresight and wisdom.
Let us all strive to work together to make our country strong, peaceful and prosperous", he added.
In a separate message, chief minister N Biren, while greeting the people on the occasion of Republic Day, appealed to all to re-dedicate themselves to uphold and promote the secular, socialist and democratic values enshrined in the Constitution and work collectively to make the country proud on the occasion.
"The history of our Republic Day traces back to the Indian Independence Act 1947, which ended British rule and transferred legislative authority to the Constituent Assembly of India.
January 26 was selected as the date of the Constitution's promulgation, in recognition of the Purna Swaraj resolution, a call for India's complete independence, which was adopted on January 26, 1930," he reminded, while adding that the constitution, one of the longest in the world, established India as a democratic republic and a union of states.
"On the occasion of the seventy-sixth Republic Day of our Great Nation, I convey my heartfelt greetings to our resilient citizens", he said.
In separate messages, education minister Th Basantakumar Singh, MAHUD minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Water Resources Department & Relief and Disaster Management Department minister Awangbow Newmai, Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Satyabrata and MANIDCO chairman K Robindro Singh also greeted the people on the occasion of 76th Republic Day celebration.
They appealed to all to reaffirm the commitment to the principles enshrined in the Constitution and work towards building a prosperous, peaceful and harmonious Manipur.
